MULBERRY (FOX 13) -
He burned a Koran in Gainesville and got international attention. Now, Pastor Terry Jones is upping the ante. He plans to burn 3,000 in Mulberry on September 11, and says he doesn't care if it sparks violence in the Middle East.
"When do we stop reciting the truth because something might happen?" Pastor Jones told FOX 13 by phone.
Three years ago, when Jones burned the Koran, riots broke out in Afghanistan and people died.
The head of the World Muslim Congress in Dallas is concerned that we may see even more violence this time.
"I hope that as a reminder, radical Muslims elsewhere in the world don't take revenge on our embassies or fellow Americans anywhere," said Mike Ghouse.
Ghouse and other members of his group will be in Mulberry on September 11 as well. He will be joining Suzanne Carter-Moore, who started the Facebook page "Not in Mulberry."
"We can stand to protest radical Islam...but I don't think we should be burning the holy book of an entire population," she said.
